INTRODUCING THE BOOK SERIES “NKỌWA ASỤSỤ IGBO"







The book series Nkọwa Asụsụ Igbo was conceived from the need to revive the gradually dying Igbo language especially for children born and raised outside Igbo land to parents whose busy lives involve progressively fewer interactions with the Igbo language.


The books are written in line with curriculum prescribed by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) from Basic 1 to Basic 6. They are simplified with descriptive illustrations and English translations, making it an easy read for children in basic education. Each class/stage has a textbook and an equally illustrative work book.


It aims to achieve a sustained interest in the use of the Igbo Language through practical interactive lessons, connecting the children to their everyday world.


The books ensure the child/learner is able to grasp the rudiments of Igbo language after going through the lessons and exercises. The series is designed for use in schools and at home, but an assistant is required to guide the children.


A growing number of schools in Lagos and the South East of Nigeria currently have the books on their booklist and it is fast becoming a favorite for private Igbo tutors especially in Lagos. 


It is my firm belief that the addition of the Nkọwa Asụsụ Igbo books to your library of learning materials will be an invaluable asset to your learners who choose to learn Igbo.
