MMM vs. MLM


We wanted to examine these two terminologies to throw some light on them, and educate our beloved Readers.

According to Wikipedia.com, MMM (Mavrodi Mundial Moneybox) is an illegal, pyramid or ponzi scheme that involves the exchange of money. There is no product involved. It is a complete scam.

MMM is completely wrong; and no one should ever be involved in it, no matter how it is disguised.

MLM (Multi Level Marketing) on the other (positive) side is legal and involves the sale of acceptable products.

Even though, MLM is legal, it may drain your purse, relationships, integrity, and purpose, if you are in the wrong company. Thoroughly checking the MLM company before joining, saves resources.

MLM Businesses have been associated with some level of stigma due to the fact that some companies that use this business model may have designed their business activities in such a way that it becomes unpleasant to most users.

Here are some of the practices by some MLM companies that can be considered unpleasant:
1. Claiming how one can get rich quick with exaggerated amounts
2. Asking or implying sales and recruitment via friends and family
3. Charging an entry fee and a re-occurring monthly fee
4. Having a set number of sales or purchases per month
5. High pressure sales tactics by deception or incessant requests
6. Marketing of inferior or regular products with inflated prices
7. Operating as a pyramid scheme where only those at the top are rewarded

There are some MLM companies who may be free of the above mentioned points. If you are already involved in an MLM that allows you to be an affiliate seller (direct sale or retail sale) only, or in a company that provides leads, that could be an manageable business, all things being equal; but because most MLMs have a cultic structure/culture or a dark origin/sponsor, it may not be satisfactory.

These companies may seem to provide entry level jobs and other good stuff to people, but remember that just because it is Legal does not make it Right. Both MLM and MMM are shaped in the form of a triangle, which makes them look very similar. If you are involved in MLM, and it does not really work for you, maybe it's time to boldly leave. A job or business is truly the sure path to peace of mind.
